Each year when the watermelons are perfect for picking, the town of McDade, Texas gets together to show them off, celebrate with their community and families, and just have a good time.
Our town is located in Central Texas, Bastrop County, about 30 miles east of Austin on Hwy 290.
The festivities kick off Friday night with a street dance with live music, food and beverages.
Saturday at 7am the melon weigh-in begins, followed by a parade and a full day music, food, games, melon auction, and much, much more!

We have countless wonderful sponsors and all-volunteer staff that bring together this annual festival to benefit the community. All proceeds go to community-based organizations such as school sports programs, scholarships, Parent-Teacher initiatives, McDade Food Pantry, McDade VFW Post 8313, McDade Historical Society, Elgin Public Library, and the list goes on.
Please join us the second Friday and Saturday in July. We would love for you to be a part of our festival!
